Students and staff react to first HSC exam14/10/2014
Yesterday, 427 students at St Francis Xavier's College Hamilton sat the first HSC Exam of 2014.
The English exam was received well by the students, who managed to push aside the anxiety of starting the Higher School Certificate to finish the test successfully.
Tracey Edstein, editor of Aurora Magazine, was present at St Francis Xavier's to get some responses.
Ben Garner, Jessica Noncic and Harrison Nally (all pictured) were mostly positive in their reactions. "It was good," said Ben. "I didn't find it hard at all."
"The format was challenging," said Harrison. "I thought the exam would actually be harder," said Jessica.
Dean of Studies at St Francis Xavier's, Mrs Patricia Hales, said the exam was a good opportunity for the students. "It looks like a very fair paper, one that gave the students scope to show what they had learned."
Meanwhile, English Studies Co-ordinator, Ms Carole Houston, expressed confidence in her charges. "The students were well prepared and the papers were what they would have expected."
